Koreans are quietly believing that their food staple, kimchi, is the reason behind the fact that few Koreans have been hit hard with SARS, despite its close geographical proximity to China. Either the Koreans are extremely brilliant in their branding (to get us to buy more kimchi) or this is actually true -- most likely, though, its highly coincidental. Apparently, this "news" of the medicinal value of kimchi has caused quite a stir in the media.
